OCA study event: East of England

Saturday 12 October 2019. 10.30am – 5pm (approximate)
Come join us for a day of practical work on the East Coast.

Join us for a day of practical work at Aldeburgh on the East Coast – suitable for all disciplines

Guided exercises for drawers/painters/illustrators; photographers and writers will be available.  If you prefer you can work on current projects/exercises or assignments from your course.

There will be plenty of opportunities to interact with other students and to share your experiences as a student with like-minded peers.

During the day there will be tutor-led discussions to share your work should you wish to.

Aldeburgh is an attractive small seaside town in Suffolk.  There is plenty to observe, from a long pebbled beach, fishing boats and huts to the colourful back to back houses along the sea front; and of course, the Maggi Hambling scallop shell sculpture in memorial to composer Benjamin Britten.

Should bad weather be an issue, our back up location is Snape Maltings – which is 10 minutes from the coast and provides more shelter and undercover opportunities to work.

Snape Maltings is an arts complex developed from Victorian industrial buildings.  Featuring a range of locations including galleries, shops and a concert hall. There is also a variety of sculptures set in the grounds plus walks around the adjacent river and reedbeds.

Information on where to meet and timings for the day will be sent with the joining instructions.

You can register your interest in attending by completing the form here.

  • Pity, can’t make the Aldeburgh study day-too far from me in South Norfolk. Wonder if there are any plans for something similar in Norwich??

    • Thanks for the comment Janice. There is a Facebook group for East of England students if you are not already part of the group. I am sure the group will welcome suggestions for future visits that would be more local for you.
