OCA Music webchat: Technology, techniques and instruments

Join OCA Music tutors Carla Rees, Chris Lawry and fellow music students for an informal web chat from the comfort of your own home. The chat will start at 6.00pm on Sunday 18 August 2019 and continue ‘live’ for at least an hour and a half. The chat will also remain open after that time for follow up conversations, or for those unable to be online at that time to catch up and read.

The chat will provide an opportunity to ask questions, share music, and to engage with the wider OCA music community.

The subject of this webchat is ‘Technology, Techniques and Instruments’ and is a chance to discuss music where composers or performers are inspiring through the use of technology, techniques or new instruments, regardless of genre, style or instrumentation. You may have found something new, exciting or unusual that intrigues you that you would love to share with others. We’d love you to join the discussion!

The chat will take place using Padlet (a new platform for sharing and organising ideas). You do not need an audio or video connection in order to take part, however, you can share and post on Padlet using webcams and audio (if you have the technology – or want to!) as well as share YouTube videos, other links and upload screen shots/diagrams/score fragments.
Padlet is a versatile and interesting collaborative platform that has many potential uses in your studies and in future OCA course design.

After you register for the webchat, you will be emailed instructions on how to prepare for the webchat, how to use Padlet and log in, and be given access to a test Padlet which has been set up so that you can try it out before the 18th August.

If you would like to take part and would like further information, please contact chrislawry@oca.ac.uk
