Photography Scotland

Coinciding with the Edinburgh Art Festival OCA are running four Photography study visits led by tutor Wendy McMurdo.
The first will take place on Sat 30 May to Lee Miller & Picasso at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
‘The American photographer Lee Miller first met Pablo Picasso in the summer of 1937 at the Hôtel Vaste Horizon in the South of France. In the ensuing years she photographed the Spanish artist more than one thousand times and he, in turn, painted her portrait six times. This exhibition, featuring photographs by Miller and a painting and drawing by Picasso, reveals the love and experiences of their long-lasting friendship that endured until Picasso’s death in 1973.’
Other dates to put in your diary are;
20 June: Maud Sulter ‘Passion’ in Glasgow.
1 August: ‘Here Comes Everybody’ Peter Kennard & Cat Phillipps in Edinburgh
22 August:Open For Business – 9 Magnum Photographers’ in Glasgow
To reserve your place please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk

*There are four upcoming study days planned for OCA photography students based in Scotland (or those able to travel to Glasgow/Edinburgh). These study days will run from 11am-3.30pm on: Sat 25 April, Sat 4 July, Sat 12 Sept and Sat 21 Nov and have been supported by OCASA. The sessions will take place at Streetlevel Photoworks in central Glasgow.
These days will offer participants a valuable opportunity to get constructive feedback on their current projects and/or discuss ideas for the future. The study days are run in conjunction with a lively series of study visits, which happen over the same period in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Please see the visits listings for further info.
If you are interested in participating in the study day programme, please register your interest here and/or and join OCA Photography Scotland’s Facebook group for continuing information and updates.
Here’s to a photo-filled 2015 and I look forward to hosting the first series of study days in Glasgow over the coming months. There’s a lot going on!
