What is your tutor up to? Caroline Wright
‘Creative Practice and the Anthropocene’ is an Open University / UCL initiative encompassing conversations, creative outputs, engagements, and writings designed to critically explore the many ways that arts-based thinking and practice might intervene productively in the current environmental crisis.
In this session we ask discussants working on these questions to reflect on themes addressed in a bespoke documentary video. The video captures a conversation between four artists and our research team on how creative practices can be fostered, developed and deployed to address some of the greatest challenges of the Anthropocene. Firstly, it asks about the ways that the artists’ own work addresses issues of environmental change; secondly, what the potential role for creative practitioners in the Anthropocene today might be; and lastly what tensions exist between creative practitioners and academics working together.

Great work Caroline, and something many students are doing really exciting work about!
Thank you Emma. I am hoping that work in this important area will grow momentum for the arts. That said, the conference programme brings together many disciplines, suggesting this will be a fascinating event
Oh, this looks really interesting, thanks for sharing what you’re up to Caroline!
Looking forward to this Caroline.
