Recording Britain Now

Here at the OCA we like the Campaign for Drawing. In a world where it sometimes feels like the only discussion about education is about the importance of literacy and numeracy, it is good to know that there is a body which makes the case for observation. Their website puts it very succinctly: Drawing helps us to understand the world, think, feel, shape and communicate ideas.
We hope you agree and we would encourage you to enter their annual art competition, The John Ruskin Prize. Besides the obvious attractions of a £1000 prize and the chance to see your work displayed in Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery, entering competitions gives you a defined challenge and a timescale, a reason to focus your energies. The theme this year is Recording Britain Now and all the details on submission are here.
We will be running a study visit to the exhibition at the Millennium Galleries in July. More details nearer the time.

  • Thanks drawing my attention to Laura Oldfield-Ford with the above image. An artist I was not familiar with before. Such an interesting style which adds to the discretion her subject.
As For the Record Britain Now exhibition, sounds like a date for the calendar.
