OCA new course: What paint does
Artists today use a huge range of materials and techniques, from traditional oil on canvas to enamels, household paint and other non-traditional materials.
Unit 1.2 What Paint Does is an exciting new course that provides a structured but experimental approach to a range of painting and drawing media. It leads on from Unit 1.1 Drawing for painting where students learned how to gather, plan and build resources and techniques and how to use drawing as a way of making and thinking within the context of painting. With this new unit, you will have the opportunity to develop and expand your understanding of the material properties of paint and discover different ways of using it to express your ideas creatively.
Unit 1.2 What Paint Does will lead you through a number of projects which will allow you to experiment with different drawing and painting media, broaden your knowledge and understanding of the working methods of a range of contemporary and historical artists and explore mediums and processes that are appropriate to your own ideas. These explorations will lead to a personal project towards the end of the course where you develop and refine your practice, supported by relevant contextual research.

A really wonderful course!
Wow! I was drawn to her work at the Biennale in Venice and now I see this course being offered. How fortunate for the Level 1 students. Sounds like an interesting module.
Gosh, looks like I would have enjoyed that had it been around.
