I am the Technology and Media Producer and do everything from providing IT support to students/tutors/staff to making animated video guides and resources for students. I have a keen interest in design and I am currently studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design at the University of Huddersfield alongside my job. In my spare time, I enjoy watching/making films, exploring new cities and pub quizzes!
Following gaining a BSc (Hons) Textile Design degree I worked as a Textile Designer for a contract fabric manufacturer in Lancashire for 5 years followed by a position as a Fabric Buyer for a shirt and apparel supplier in West Yorkshire. Prior to working at OCA I worked at Barnsley College offering support and guidance regarding training options to businesses and individuals throughout Yorkshire and Humberside. In 2014 I gained a level 4 Diploma in Advice and Guidance. My role at OCA is to provide general support and advice to both existing student and those looking to become students with OCA, and also support the Academic Registrar with preparation for assessments.
I am the Finance and Tutor Registry Officer responsible for all things tutor pay and sales ledger related; from processing enrolments and logging receipts to setting up instalments and chasing payments.
I spend my time outside of the OCA trying to keep up with my two young boys.
My role at the OCA is to provide help and support to our student body by both email and telephone. I’m here to assist students with course content queries and other subject related questions in photography and graphic design. After attaining a BA (Hons) Interdisciplinary Art and Design degree, I worked as a graphic designer, and more recently gained a PGCE in Lifelong Learning from the University of Huddersfield. In my spare time I enjoy visiting art galleries and gardening on my family’s allotment.
My role at OCA is Student Services Administrator. I provide assistance to existing and prospective students via email and telephone. I am also the MA Fine Art Administrator. I began at the OCA in June 2015 but have worked in Higher Education Administration since 2006. I am animal mad and when not working or cleaning out the animals I like to travel and I am currently planning my upcoming wedding.
I am a new member of the team. My main duties include dispatch and collection of course materials and assessment work. I am married with two sons, and now I’m a proud granddad to my grandson. My spare time is spent with my family and two dogs. I also have a passion for playing and teaching the guitar.
I'm here to support students with questions specific to fine art and course content and I act as editor for the OCA's weareoca.com blog. I have a BA (Hons) in Fine Art - Painting, and a Higher Diploma in Art and Design for Art Teachers, both from Limerick School of Art and Design. I also work as a tutor on OCA’s drawing units. Outside of the OCA, I recently completed a foundations in Art Therapy Course and when I can I practise my own art. I care deeply about animals, wildlife and the world, volunteering as a Born Free Activate member, I love to travel and explore new countries and cultures.
I have worked for the OCA for 22 years. My main duties include dispatch and collection of course materials and assessment work; sending tutors details of their students and any administration paperwork including updating student and tutor details on the OCA database. I also prepare the OCA's premises for assessments and other events. I am married with two children and one grandson. At weekends we enjoy long walks ending at our local pub and trips to the East coast on our motorbike.
My spare time is usually spent with my family, preferable outdoors, although I do enjoy having a quiet moment to read.Having worked in Academic Services at OCA for 18 months, I now work within the Finance Team. My responsibilities include tutor pay, enrolments and processing payments along with a variety of finance functions. I have a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Sunderland and have worked in a variety of administration roles.
I am the Graphic Designer for the OCA and my role within the organization is to design the layout of all the courses, advertisements and promotional materials. I have a BA Hons degree in Interdisciplinary Art and Design. I own a VW campervan that I love going away in at the weekends. I have a passion for the outdoors, and my favorite place to go on holiday is Scotland, where I enjoy going canyoning and white water rafting.
In Learner Support I deal with questions and concerns from both students and tutors. This can include guidance relating to disabilities, health issues and other circumstances that may affect learning. I can also provide support and information on extensions, deferrals and withdrawals, and I am secretary for the Bursary Committee. I have a degree in English Language and Linguistics, and have worked in Higher Education since graduation.
I am currently studying the BA(Hons) Creative Writing degree with the OCA and also enjoy photography, surfing (when it's warm), and driving my VW campervan (when it's working).I've worked at the OCA since 2004, and have progressed from filing and scanning duties to my current position managing the OCA's website code and content, email facilities and online accounts. I also provide support for the MA Fine Art and its regular Google Hangout-based group-crit sessions.
I have worked at Open College of the Arts since 2001 and in that time I have held various positions. My current position of Academic Registrar which involves the management of all registry related activities - these include the assessment process and university enrolments for credits, and ensuring students are working towards the correct degree pathway. I am married with two young children and my spare time is spent with my family and friends.
I am the OCA’s Principal, having come from the Open University as their Head of Strategic Planning and Policy in Learning and Teaching Innovation. Prior to that role, I was Director of Technology Enhanced Learning. When not working, I’m studying the OU’s H800 module ‘Technology-enhanced learning: practices and debates’ through Distance Learning and I enjoy sailing, kayaking, running and occasionally riding horses (not very proficiently!)
I am responsible for curriculum development and quality enhancement to ensure that the OCA remains relevant and meets the needs its learners. I also tutor across the BA (Hons) Photography degree programme. I’m an award winning and internationally exhibiting artist, and I’m currently working towards a PhD (my research is concerned with the sexualisation of e-commerce websites). I have two small children, an old blind sausage dog, and a wonderful and supportive husband (who is also an established art photographer, PhD candidate and OCA tutor).
