Prevent Duty
The Prevent duty aims to safeguard people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The Prevent duty applies to organisations in receipt of public funding, and/or registered as a provider of Higher Education with the Office for Students.
Our Prevent Duty Policy outlines the steps that we take to ensure that freedom of speech and academic integrity is preserved, whilst creating an environment that guides and supports students.
Prevent Duty Policy-
This is a summary of changes made to the policy for the 2024/25 academic year:
- Moved to new policy format.
- Amendments to wording for clarity and ease of reading.
- Introduction of new section “Investigating Concerns” which follows investigation processes consistent with other policies (for example Student Code of Conduct).
