I am a practising artist, working in education, and am currently researching a Fine Art PhD at Sheffield Hallam University. My practice raises questions about the fragmentary nature of our experience of language. I am also interested in the materialisation of language and communication. I work across photography and sound, drawing and writing, and the production of artist books.

Ever since I can remember I have been interested in the process of image creation. Over the years my work has developed and changed, as I have explored various forms of art production, but photography has always played a part in my approach to making and thinking.

I achieved my BA(Hons) Fine Art in 1994 from Staffordshire University. The work I produced used photography and sculptural installation. In 2013 I completed my MA in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. Here I became interested in the relationship between text and image, using drawing, writing and photography.

Since 1995 I have worked in art education, teaching art and photography (both chemical and digital processes) in a variety of settings. I have always enjoyed working with students and being involved in their creative journeys. I am happy to be working for the OCA; to be able to encourage students to develop their confidence, their art work and explore new possibilities.
