I began studying with the OCA a few years before retiring as school principal. You know, the word ‘retirement’ is a completely misleading description of this time in a person’s life. For me life has always been about self discovery. When you leave a successful and very demanding job in which you have had to develop and refine skills and qualities required for that level of responsibility, it doesn’t end there when you give that up! The next phase, whatever it is, is just as demanding in its requirement for continued growth and understanding. The journey goes on! In my present course of study for a Degree in Painting with the OCA, the journey is compelling me to look deep within myself to find a true expression, an innate response to the world around me and I am finding this infinitely more challenging than running a school.
