Louise Cunningham

As the Programme Leader for Visual Communication, Louise brings over a decade of dedicated experience in the field of education, a significant portion of which has been devoted to specialised design schools.

Louise holds a strong affinity for printmaking, sign painting and paper art, with a primary specialisation in digital design practices. This diverse set of interests serves as the foundation for Louise’s unique perspective on design and creativity. Regularly found exploring museums and galleries for inspiration, Louise has a particular admiration for The Wellcome Collection in London, drawn to its thematic focus on science, health and design.

Since 2022, Louise has been expanding her expertise in neon making, immersing herself in traditional glass blowing and tube bending techniques. This new venture adds an exciting dimension to her already varied skill set, further enriching her contributions to the field of visual communication.

The teaching philosophy of Louise revolves around encouraging students to delve inward, exploring personal stories and cultural heritage as sources of inspiration. With a keen interest in sustainability, Louise firmly believes that design can seamlessly blend aesthetics with societal benefits.
