Hi All. I’m Fred and one of the Programme Tutors on the Graphic Design Course. I’ve worked in specialist art & design education for twenty years and specifically in Communication Design (Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation and Visual Communication).
I’m interested the global context of communication design and the search for global visual languages. I’ve worked with students, tutors and designers from all over the world and spent time in art schools in India, China, Singapore, Iceland and the Netherlands. Across all of these there has been a common language of design with a huge range of social, cultural, historical and professional influences.
I have my own business and practice that has developed into a combination of furniture making/restoration and repurposing as well as personal print and photographic projects. It’s a bit of a departure from graphic design but there is still a focus on creative problem solving, communication and collaboration.
