Ben Hall

I am an illustrator, animator and interactive designer with over 15 years experience. I have worked on a number of animated productions for children including the multi-BAFTA winning series Charlie and Lola and Little Howard’s Big Question for the BBC. I regularly collaborate with others in the creation of animated and interactive content for broadcast and online clients. My most recent collaboration is a short animation with my six year old son Robin which is set to feature at film and animation festivals internationally.

I have been teaching at undergraduate level since 2008. In addition to tutoring here at the OCA I am also a senior lecturer on BA (Hons) Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Beckett University. Here I am studying for a practice-based PhD which explores collaborative storytelling using playful methods to create new narratives. Projects created as part of this study have featured as part of Leeds Digital Festival, Sheffield Design Week and Playful Learning in Manchester. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I’m a strong believer in fostering inclusive communities and am the chair of a friends group which safeguards green spaces within York. I am also a keen open-water swimmer.
