Leanne Oates, OCA’s Graphic Designer, looks at an important new source book Understanding Illustration by tutor Jo Davies and Derek Brazell. The illustrators chosen by Leanne for further research are Sara Fanelli, Peter Grundy, Daniel Pudles and Jill Calder.

Leanne, Mark, thanks!
I found it interesting how the book was divided into different sections, detailing different approaches to illustration. I like the idea of an interactive children’s book. I always used to embellish the illustrations in my reading books, colouring them in and adding myself and friends to the scenes.
