Penni Redding

OCA tutor and assessor Sandra Flower looks at the work of Textiles 2 student Penni Redding.
Sandra chose to highlight the work in Penni’s sketchbook as it demonstrates how to develop an idea, something that students often ask about. From looking at the drawings of Henry Moore through to producing a series of ideas for a range of printed textiles, Penni’s sketchbook illustrates the thought processes and development made when undertaking artistic exploration.

  • Extremely inspiring! It certainly helps students who are unable to interact with others to look at how sketchbooks can be put together in innovative ways. I look at my own sketchbooks and seem to have a lot disconnected ideas and notes that don’t link up with each other. However, I have found looking back on them later informs further ideas, that at the time I did not have the skill for.

  • What a lovely sketchbook Penni. Looking at your work gives me the impetus to make more of my own sketchbook. Thanks for the inspiration!
