Virtual study event: Ope Lori, artist’s talk
Join Dr. Ope Lori via zoom on 21 November 2020 at 2pm for an artists talk and Q&A session. The event will be recorded and available to OCA students.
Ope Lori (b. 1984, London) uses lens-based media to investigate politics of representation, race, gender and cultural and sexual identity. Interested in positions of power and positionality, Lori’s multi-screen looped video installations confront multiple ‘taboo’ subjects – from online pornography to interracial relationships – while addressing complex questions of class and multiple positions around ‘difference.’ She is the author of the forthcoming (2021) book, ‘Beyond The Feminine: The Politics of Skin Colour and Gender in Visual Representations’ (Bloomsbury, 2020) and the Director of PILAA (Pre-Image Learning And Action), an Arts & Diversity company which she founded in 2015.
