Study event: OCA Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders.
Bah humbug! As Christmas approaches, the ghost of Ebenezer Scrooge hangs heavy in the air. Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is one of the classic examples of character study and change. Character is crucial to any narrative so in our pre-Christmas creative writing special we will be looking at the importance of character, how to create character and how to communicate it to the audience.
OCA tutor Douglas Dougan will lead a series of guided writing exercises to help you explore how to put character at the centre of your narrative. The meet takes place in The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre in Edinburgh on 14 December 2019. The centre has its own literary connections and is an amazing and inspiring building. Painters, drawers, textile artists, sculptors and others are all welcome too to bring a piece of your own work as inspiration for our character study.
