Liz Monahan is running a workshop on reflective practice for the East of England OCA Regional Group on the 25 January 2020 at the Melbourn Community Hub, 30 High St, Melbourn, Royston, SG8 6DZ.  The session runs between 12.00 and 16.00 with a 30 minute break.

As there is a strong emphasis on reflective practice in our learning logs, this workshop will be of interest to students on any course. Participants are asked to bring a couple of examples of their own work to aid discussion. Notebooks, pens and handouts will be provided on the day.

The workshop covers 3 areas:

  1. What is a reflective practice?  A short presentation together with pair discussion and quick writing activities.
  2. How can I become a reflective practitioner?  An introduction to the Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle and how to use this framework for structuring reflective writing.  Followed by writing exercises, sharing and discussion.
  3. How can I use a reflective practice to develop my creative work?  A look at examples of others’ reflective practice followed by discussion. Then students do some reflective writing based on their own creative practice.  What do I do? How do I do it? Why do I do it?

Liz Monahan is an external tutor and more information can be found about her at her website: https://www.lizmonahan.co.uk/
