Philip Lorca diCorcia gets a very welcome retrospective at the Hepworth in Wakefield and there is an illuminating video to accompany the show.

It is difficult to exaggerate the influence that diCorcia has had over photography – Geoff Dyer talks of how his work ‘seals the world in the instant it is made…[the pictures]…are not like film stills – they are still films.’ Still films that others have felt compelled to make move; whole sections of Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction seem set in diCorcia photographs – once seen, it is impossible to see Uma Thurman as Mia Wallace without thinking of Marilyn; 28 years old; Las Vegas, Nev.; $30.
Tutor Andrew Conroy will lead a study visit to the exhibition on Saturday 29 March. Places are free for OCA students, to book email enquiries@oca-uk.com.
