OCA Photography: Zoom Session

Tutor led session for any unit/levels 1/2 (HE4 and HE5)

If you have never participated in an online group – why not make this a resolution for 2020 and come and join us for an online session.

One of the options available is the newly set up tutor led sessions for HE4/5 Photography courses.  This is non-course specific for Photography students.

(HE6 students – don’t worry you do have a session running that is dedicated to these courses – more information here: https://www.oca.ac.uk/weareoca/photography/bahons-photography-programme-trialling-online-group-work/)

In November 2019 we held the first zoom session of the series.  It was great to see a group of around 20 students logging on and joining for the session on Learning Logs.

For many students starting their studies Learning Logs can be something that they struggle with.  The coursework and assignments are more straightforward to post onto the blog. This session outlined the key fundamentals of the learning log.  The presentation concentrated on the learning logs function within OCA courses for students to record and reflect on their own learning. In addition, examples of various ways of presenting information was highlighted.

The feedback after the session was very positive.

“I wanted to let you know that your excellent session you gave online a couple of weeks ago has really benefited me and given me much further clarity about the learning log and how to use it. Although it has taken a little time to convert the information from the paper to online, it has been a very useful exercise….

The tutorial was excellent and I hope that the OCA will be able to offer more as well as the hangouts. As I said then it was good to meet some of the people whose blogs I follow. It also helped me to move on because by working alone not everything is so obvious all the time.”

“A few days ago Andrea ran an on-line ‘Zoom’ session on Learning Logs. As well students from 3 continents attending (isn’t that amazing?) there was a few from our corner of OCA land too. Perhaps I’m not the only one who struggled with the concept of the Learning Log but thanks to Andrea I’ve now had my eyes opened. In fact, I’d go as far as saying, I don’t think I’m going to be the same person again!”

Dave – Level 1 Photography Student.
