Myth, Manners and Memory: Photographers of the American South

Bonne with a photograph of an Angel – Alec Soth

The American South provokes powerful emotions. A troubled history, rural isolation and poverty and more recently dramatic economic and population growth, the region has inspired a diverse literary tradition from Mark Twain to Harry Crews. This important exhibition at the De La Warr Pavillion surveys an equally diverse body of photographic work and runs from 1 October to 3 January 2011. The OCA has a few tickets to a contextual talk on Saturday November 6 which are free for students. Students will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition, attend the talk and then join me for a discussion over a cup of tea or coffee. If you are interested please email enquiries@oca-uk.com
