OCA welcomes its first student to the new Mixed Media course

OCA tutor Linda Khatir welcomes student Vicky Speirs onto its new Painting 2 course, Mixed Media; one of the options if working towards the BA(Hons) Painting degree, or the BA(Hons) Creative Arts degree. Linda says: ‘in previous modules Vicky has shown an inventive and enthusiastic approach to art practice. This is important when considering the Mixed Media module as students enrolling on this course are required to select and interpret a range of methods and materials with the aim of producing highly individual and experimental artworks’. Mixed Media offers a great deal of choice and flexibility in which you are able to develop your own ideas through combinations of processes and media.

An exciting addition to the painting portfolio, you are encouraged to approach your own practice and the practices of others with an open mind and a willingness to critically engage with some of the many issues confronted in art practice today. The module is made up of five practical assignments and a written element. One of the aspects of the programme that stands out at level 2, is that you will organise a personalised study programme in negotiation with your tutor, selecting from a range of experimental projects that incorporate both two and three-dimensional methods and materials.
