Level 3 Photography student, Stan Dickinson, is inviting fellow students to join him for a special visit to an exhibition of his work, New Photographic Chemistry at Bank Street Arts gallery, Sheffield, on Saturday 1 October 2016, from 11.30am.
Stan is close to completing his final OCA module, Sustaining Your Practice, and this show is an important part of the publication of his work.
Those attending the Student Exhibition Visit will have a chance to view and discuss the work with Stan and he will be pleased to answer any questions (and receive your feedback, too, of course).
The exhibition is only on show at Bank Street on Friday 30/9 and Saturday 01/10, so this is a unique opportunity to gain first hand exposure to the work of one of our most experienced students and to talk with him about its development.
There is more about the project (which started in 2014 with the purchase of a 50 years old chemistry textbook) on Stan’s website here.
To reserve your place please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk or alternatively to request a place on a study visit please click here and complete the form.

  • Hi Stan,
Congrats on the exhibition, and all the best for the student meeting!
I’ve really enjoyed the video link from your site, explaining the process of the project, and particularly liked the idea of returning to the format of the newly bound book inside the old book covers.
Really interesting to see this, and as you mention, a return to the start in more than one way.
Rob and I briefly talked about your work when we met up in Paris last month, but I couldn’t really remember the whole of it. Really nice to see it coming together…
Hope you’re well, and as said above, wishing you all the best!

    • Thanks, Dewald, good to hear from you & ‘cheers’ for the good wishes – “… talked about … in Paris …” – fame!!. (Rob’s getting an invite to the preview!!) Hope you & the rest of [(6)] have a good session in Oxford.
Hazel, John – thanks & it would certainly be great to see you if you can make it.

  • Very many congratulations Stan…so much work, time and determination. Its wonderful to see the fruits of your efforts finally recognised and in its final form. I have an increasing sense of pride and melancholy as the familiar faces (and their avatars) are coming to the end of their degree, graduating and moving on…

    • Stop it, Penny, the tears are dripping onto my exhibition prints! 🙂 Thanks for your support & I’m sure you’ll be following through this stage soon, too.

  • Just giving this event a little ‘push’ up the agenda but also to say that this is a ‘student-led’ event & might be an opportunity for newer students to meet others. And, it doesn’t just have to be about the work; I’m happy to talk/answer questions about experiences of studying with OCA.
