We were really pleased with the response to last week’s video by Lynne Chapman on keeping a sketchbook. Paul is pretty busy right now, so we have suspended work on OCA Elements. I have uploaded here a pair of lengthier videos by Lynne on the process of illustrating a book so you can see them a little earlier than otherwise. In total the video is more than 12 minutes long and we would not usually blog such a long piece, but they are definitely recommended viewing if you are on our Illustration course and interesting in their own right. Lynne talks about the process of illustrating the work of author Julia Jarman, Bears on the Stairs. Enjoy and don’t have nightmares.

I loved this and found it fascinating to hear and see how a professional illustrator goes about her work. Lynne obviously has such enthusiasm for what she does and this bubbles over into her work which has great humour as well as artistic originality. It is interesting also that she gives an idea of the business side of book illustration. The whole video was enjoyable and also useful. Thanks for making it available.
Great video – fascinating insight into how the illustration process works.
Thank you so much for sharing your work with us. Best of luck with your books Lynne.
Thanks also to OCA and Mark for producing and publishing this video.
Another fascinating video. I ordered the book and liked it so much that I have bought two more for my grandchildren. Lynne can eat again now!!
This is a great explanation of the process of book illustrating. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce this.
