there’s a problem with the sound at the beginning – his mouth is moving but only music is heard
It’s our new approach to the opening sequence Stephanie, not a problem with the sound – there is nothing you are meant to hear missing, although your feedback does give pause for thought.
Yes it is a bit odd – it’s a nice idea but comes across as an error – to me anyway.
Hi Stephanie,
thanks for the feedback. To be honest it’s something I threw together so I could stop using the slideshow software which I had been using for the intro titles.
I envisaged using non-talking sections from interviews such as in the Sheila McGregor/Axis video on the post before this one. But with Christian presenting to camera there wasn’t really anything like that so I took a section of interview.
Having said that it’s a pretty common thing, Most of the major broadcasters have or have had idents where they use a clip without the original audio. I’m certainly not breaking any new ground here 🙂
Worth a go though 🙂
For what it’s worth, I read it as intentional and quite liked it. 🙂
Also noted some interesting structural changes in the degree pathway and am wondering if they will become part of the other degree pathways as well (modules in Professional Practice and Research at level 3). Very welcome if so.
Ah, but, aptly, it does emphasise visual communication!
The fact is, Mark couldn’t shut me up, hence no footage of me not talking
‘Also noted some interesting structural changes in the degree pathway and am wondering if they will become part of the other degree pathways as well’
That is the plan Mary, although the changes will be introduced in a phased way from 2013 and no student will be expected to change mid-level 3.
The split 3 x level 3 courses were interesting to notice. Would be interesting to see how this gets phased into other pathways. I for one would hopefully one day come back and do this, as I’m interested in graphic design and book design, but I can’t draw to save my life…
Stephanie, I think the MA Photo is in the works…
Any chance of a photography MA?
It is an ambition Stephanie, but we are keen to learn the lessons of the MA in Fine Art before we expand the post-graduate programme.
That sound very wise Gareth. Do you think it might be months or more like years from now? I ask because it could have a bearing on which courses I choose.
The very earliest would be enrolment in September 2013, so probably best to think in terms of years rather than months.
righy ho
Thanks so much Christian for this. I was on a Photography degree pathway but Im now studying Illustration with the hope of doing the Visual Communications degree. I am really looking forward to it and I have confidence that I can work professionally after my degree with a degree structure like that.
Good to hear it, Penny
Can’t wait to start this course next month, so exciting 🙂
