Bumper study visit day, London

Flo Brooks, Normal with wings, acrylic on wood, 2016

Join OCA’s Caroline Wright for a bumper study visit day in London on the 30 November.
We will begin the day at the Parasol Unit and view the work of Martin Puryear.
Puryear’s objects and public installations—in wood, stone, tar, wire, and various metals—are a marriage of minimalist logic with traditional ways of making. Puryear’s evocative, dreamlike explorations in abstract forms retain vestigial elements of utility from everyday objects found in the world.
Next we will pop next door to the Victoria Miro Gallery and see Idris Khan’s offering.
Drawing on diverse cultural sources including literature, history, art, music and religion, Khan has developed a unique narrative involving densely layered imagery that inhabits the space between abstraction and figuration and speaks to the themes of history, cumulative experience and the metaphysical collapse of time into single moments.
After lunch and discussions around sketchbooks we will walk to Cubitt Gallery to see the exhibition by artist Flo Brooks entitled Is now a good time? We will have an Introduction to the show by Cubitt Curatorial Fellow Helen Nisbet and Helen will also talk about Cubitt in the context of the gallery, studio spaces and structure.
To reserve your place please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk or alternatively to request a place on a study visit please click here and complete the form.
