Student ID Cards

One of our students has recently been in touch to say that Canon had said that an OCA student card was not sufficient evidence to get a student discount. As a relatively small college this can happen from time to time. However OCA students working towards a Higher Education qualification are now being pre-registered with Bucks New University. This means that we can get you a Bucks Student ID card for the current academic year. This can be used as further evidence of your enrolment on an undergraduate level course and so may entitle you to standard student discounts. We are also working with Bucks to resolve the issues of allowing OCA students to have access to their local university library by being a registered Bucks student. The first stage in resolving this is by having a student ID card.
All students need is a clear, recent passport style photo of themselves with their name and OCA student number on the back which they should send to me, Stephanie Gillott, Academic Registrar at the main OCA address. We will apply for your pre-registration and send you the Student Card once we receive them. As this is a new process it may take several weeks for your cards to be sent out to you.

  • I am working towards my degree wit yourselves and have been trying to get a NUS card via Bucks but have had no joy as to get student discount on the highstreet you need an NUS card, a uni ID card isn’t enough, who do we contact at Bucks for this or do we still go via yourself? I contacted the NUS direct and they weren’t much help as they said they’d never heard of the OCA?? Thanks

  • I got my NUS card very promptly. Didn’t even have to provide a photo, as the the website used my camera on the laptop to take a picture – don’t worry, you can say you don’t like it and redo! It’s going to be really useful – not least with the Amazon discount, which I used today for some art books (and a few other things….)

  • I think you have to be a UK resident to buy the NUS Extra card. Remember that this is a discount card and not s full membership card for the National Union of Students.

  • So as a student living in Sweden, would I be able to get the Bucks Student ID card but not the NUS card?
Isn´t there a international student card called ISIC that we who do not live in Britain should be able to apply for?

  • As I said above there is a difference between the discount card that the NUS offer for sale and the card that they issue to members of affiliated Student Unions at the various colleges up and down the country. The ISIC card seems to be a more or less commercial organisation that issues identity/discount cards for a range of occupations related to education. As far as I am aware only full time students can get an ISIC card but there are others available from them. Info here: http://www.isic.org/student-card/faq.html

  • I’ve used my ordinary OCA student card several times recently at High Street Stores and it has always been accepted. Matalan and Bon Marche spring to mind. 20% discount at both

  • I am a new student I have tried to register, no register link in the top of right hand side of home page.I have click on student log in and does not recognise my user name, student number on the card sent in the pack or email. Can anybody help with this thank you.

  • I have been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours as of late, but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the net might be a lot more useful than ever before.
