Enterprise enhancement scheme

Lots of OCA students join us and take OCA courses to advance their careers, start a new career, or strike out on their own, setting up their own projects and businesses with a passion for art.

Post-study success, however that looks for individual students, is a key ambition of OCA. We hope that our courses will provide you with valuable skills, but in addition to this we are developing initiatives to provide opportunities to network with peers, develop collaborative projects, and set up businesses.

With this in mind, we are establishing a new Enterprise Enhancement Scheme, providing funding to students to engage in enterprise activity.

This new initiative is open to all students at Level Two (HE5), and Level Three (HE6) to cover a breadth of activities that might support you in securing your ambition post-study.

This could be attending a conference, an exhibition, a training course or event. It could be setting up a project with other students to design graphics for e-greetings cards, or investment in digital technology to enable you to take innovative images.

There is no strict set criteria to applying for this scheme; instead we are looking for students to explain what you are seeking funding for, how that is enterprise activity or supporting enterprise activity, and what impact you anticipate this having.

We welcome applications from individual students, and encourage applications for group projects. The amount of funding available is £100 per individual, or £150 per individual when applying as part of a group. Students are limited to one allocation of funding per level.

Activities that funding is sought for must take place before 31 July 2020 to be eligible.

The only condition of the funding is that students write a short case study of their experiences and how the funding helped, upon completion.

Application forms and guidance notes can be found on our Enterprise pages and should be submitted to enterprise@oca.ac.uk for consideration.

If anyone has any questions, or needs help with completing the application form, please contact enterprise@oca.ac.uk for guidance.

  • Writers looking to take advantage of this should join NAWE – the National Association of Writers in Education. It offers a range of information, jobs, courses and events that students and graduates can take part in.
