Music study visit – Tuesday 30th April

This is a post from the weareoca.com archive. Information contained within it may now be out of date.

The first in what we hope will be a series of music study visits is planned for Tuesday 30th April at the Birmingham Conservatoire.  Music tutor Andy Glover is hosting a concert to celebrate … erhm … a major birthday (!) … and  featuring his own music.
The timetable will be :

  • from 2.00 pm: rehearsals begin in the Recital Hall.  There is no requirement either to be there from the start or to stay for the whole session – the expectation is that people will come and go.
  • from 5.30 to 6.30 pm: talk by Andy Glover about the pieces featured in the concert, followed by a question and answer session about his music and work (plus other things that get thrown up on the day!).
  • 7.30 pm: the concert starts.
  • from 9.15 pm (or thereabouts): an informal discussion at a local hostelry for all those able to stay.  We recognise that, as this is a midweek event and some people will be travelling long distances, this won’t be possible for everyone.

If you’d like a place on this visit, it is essential that you email enquiries@oca-uk.com. Whilst there should be sufficient capacity to accommodate all those who wish to come, the rehearsal session and pre-concert talk are targeted at conservatoire and OCA students only, so those on the door will need names in advance.  Similarly, although the concert itself is open to the public, there is a fee for attending which will be waived for OCA students (hence names needed in advance).
