I had already completed two short creative writing courses with the OCA before deciding to enrol on the Creative Writing Degree in 2011. As a single parent who works part-time, I needed to be able to study at my own pace and the OCA was able to offer me that flexibility, through their distance learning programme. So much of yourself goes into what you create and my biggest obstacle is confidence but feedback from the tutors has always been very encouraging. I’m now starting to believe I have what it takes to succeed. I just need to get on and write it.
