I have been a lecturer for over 20 years and alongside my OCA tutoring currently lecture Illustration at Swansea College of Art. I have a BA (Hons), MA, PGCE and FHEA. I also have a wide range of experience in the Art and Design industry, having worked as an Illustrator and Designer in design and publishing studios in London and Barcelona, illustrating in many different areas including editorial, advertising and narrative, with my work published in over 30 books.
I have a passion for travel and value the educational benefit of this having organised many student study trips including; London, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Venice, Florence, Budapest and New York.
My creative practice is very broad and has involved group and solo exhibitions in the UK and Europe. I have designed and produced large scale public artworks including the Captain Scott memorial in Cardiff Bay and have also been highly commended at the Welsh Artist of the Year. I am involved with reportage illustration, as a passionate believer in observational drawing and the value of the activity, for many years I have been visually documenting my surroundings, responding to the environment. All drawings I complete on location from life, the immediacy of the moment and response is of central importance, producing work reflecting life in Europe, South America and Asia. As an artist in residence at a rugby club, Ice hockey and music venues documenting celebrations and demonstrations, the aim of the drawings is always to be aware of life as it is happening, experiencing the moment, embracing the fluidity and flux, to create without preconceptions. I look forward to working with you, sharing my passion for creativity and sharing in your own journey.
