Emma Arandjelovic

Emma Arandjelovic has recently had a saxophone piece commissioned and performed, titled The Food of Love. Performed by Gavin Mungersdorf on alto sax.

The opportunity
“In October I responded to a call-out for composers by OCA Programme Leader for Painting and Drawing, Emma Drye, who was leading a project based around creativity in workplaces. The project involved the creation of a number of artworks, inspired by employees at the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre in Edinburgh, one of which includes this saxophone solo. The music was composed using a series of photographs taken from an employee’s office walls as inspiration — photographs of a carefree child, visionary thinkers and the simple pleasures of good food, evoking joy, hope, nostalgia, and a real passion for life. The piece was performed live at the exhibition’s opening and made available via headphones as part of an installation afterwards”.
