“I’m an Operating Department Practitioner, working in a busy hospital. The picture below is a self-portrait in acrylic paint.

Basically I do the same job as a theatre nurse but trained purely in theatre, so I wouldn’t have to work on a ward.

I work about 25 hours a week and have been known to go in on days off to sketch (with permission, and never patients!). It is a unique environment to work in and I use it as source material all the time, which relates to the theme of creating, wherever you are.

I’m getting so much out of being part of the OCA. I’m currently on Understanding Painting Media and loving every minute!”
