Emma Drye

Emma has exhibited across the UK, most recently in London and Edinburgh. She was the recipient of a Paul Hamlyn funded residency at the Glasgow Museums Service in 2013 and was selected for the Edinburgh Art Festival programme in 2018. In 2019 she undertook a residency at the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre, Edinburgh and was in residence at Edinburgh Local Authority in 2020. “I enjoy brightly coloured things left behind in dingy places, people being inadvertently funny, serious faced dogs and witnessing the everyday creativity of people at work”

Emma graduated with a degree in painting from Brighton University in 1992 and more recently with distinction from the MFA in contemporary art at the University of Edinburgh in 2014. She is currently undertaking a PhD at Chelsea School of Art in London on the subject of practising as an artist in workplaces. She is Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Painting and BA (Hons) Drawing at the Open College of the Arts at the Open University. She has a dog called Haelyn. www.emmadrye.co.uk
