Why choose the OCA?
At the OCA we are specialists in creative arts education. We have a thriving community of students studying an inspiring range of subjects including art history, creative writing, fine art, illustration, graphic design, music, painting, photography, textiles and visual communication.
All our courses and degree programmes are delivered through part-time open learning with the support of experienced tutors who are also practising artists, writers, photographers, visual communicators or musicians. There are no entry qualifications and our flexible approach means you can start studying with the OCA straightaway. We don’t have fixed enrolment dates, so you can fit your studies around your life.
A real bonus is that our fees are about a third of those charged by traditional universities. What’s more, you can study with us whilst carrying on with existing commitments such as part-time employment, or family/carer responsibilities. You can pay fees as you go or get a student loan if you haven’t already got a degree.
Whether you are just starting out on your journey to pursue a career in the creative industries, want to obtain a high quality accredited degree or simply wish to develop your voice as an artist for your own satisfaction and development, then learning with the OCA will be at the heart of your experience.
We have undergone a Review for Specific Course Designation by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and have received its final report, which is available in full on the QAA website here.
